History and Historic Preservation

Preserving East High’s history through projects and programs.

The History and Historic Preservation Committee safeguards East High School’s rich heritage by curating exhibits, preserving architectural elements, maintaining records, and hosting educational programs and tours for students, alumni, and the community.

Ongoing Projects:

  • Tower History Museum and Archives: Curate, collect, research, and host tours.
  • East High Alumni Heritage Hall: Produce and maintain the third-floor exhibit, oversee the periodic inductee selection process, compile biographical material and oral histories of inductees, and collaborate with the EAF Fundraising Committee on induction events.
  • Historic Preservation Review: Document and protect historical and architectural elements of the school building.
  • Historical Research and Writing: Contribute to school and Foundation publications.
  • War Memorial: Maintain and update the roster display on the second floor.
  • Cultural Recordkeeping: Document and maintain institutional traditions.
  • Educational Programs: Develop programs for students, faculty, alumni, and the community.
  • Historical Tours: Conduct tours of the East High building.

Tower Musem

The historic bell tower at East High School is the site of the school’s Tower Museum. The museum houses valued memorabilia including yearbooks, antique sports uniforms, to photographs and letters.
