Description
Denver’s East High, built in 1925, is an official Denver Historic Landmark. The clock tower was modeled after Independence Hall in Philadelphia.
George Hebard Williamson, architect, was a graduate of the school. East High, is located at Colfax and Detroit in Denver, CO
The foreground column is part of the Sullivan Gateway, built in 1917 for the City Beautiful park effort. Daniel Burnham, architect, and noted New York artist Leo Lentelli contributed to the City Park Esplanade structures.
As of February 2012, the Sullivan Gateway is now listed with Colorado Preservation, Inc. as one of Colorado’s most endangered places.
